About
I am a Consultant Urologist and a certified robotic surgeon with expertise in prostate cancer diagnostics, focal therapy (HIFU, Cryotherapy, Nanoknife), brachytherapy, robotic prostatectomy, cystectomy, and nephrectomy and am one of the highest volume surgeons in South England, averaging robotic procedures in triple digits each year, more than twice the median, with 1000+ career robotic surgeries. The ability to treat prostate cancer in all its spectrum, including radiorecurrent cancer with multiple modalities and general advanced robotic skills, is currently only possessed by a few surgeons across the globe. I also have an academic background and am an active member of the editorial boards of several internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals. My contributions to the field include the design of randomized clinical trials, with award-winning research that has informed national and international judicial verdicts, law, and clinical practice guidelines. I have been a nominee to the Indian prostate cancer guidelines committee. My primary appointment is with Portsmouth University Healthcare NHS Trust, while I also maintain a significant practice in focal therapy for prostate cancer at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. I completed my medical training in India, earning an MBBS and a Master’s degree in General Surgery from Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. I subsequently pursued a fellowship in laparoscopic hernia surgery and served as a trauma surgeon at the Jai Prakash Narayan Trauma Center, affiliated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. I further specialized in urology at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences before joining the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center, New Delhi, as a Consultant. There, I obtained certification in robotic surgery, enabling me to independently perform complex open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures for renal, bladder, and prostate cancers. In 2021, I relocated to the United Kingdom, where I completed fellowships in Focal Therapy and Urological cancers with a special emphasis on Robotic Prostatectomy at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. In addition to clinical expertise, I have a PhD in Biotechnology, enhancing my ability to integrate cutting-edge research with surgical practice. My extensive experience across multiple surgical subspecialties allows me to manage complex and challenging cases with a high level of proficiency. I am recognized as a high-volume, instructor-grade surgeon (with fellows being trained under me for robotic prostatectomy), and I contribute to excellence in both patient care and medical education.
